Abstract

Globālais hinduisms ir daudzveidīgs. Parasti hinduisms, pielāgojoties Rietumu patērētājiem, lielā mērā transformējas. Starptautiskā Krišnas Apziņas Biedrība ir viena no populārākajām Rietumu hinduisma kustībām, kaut arī tās dibinātājs nebija gatavs uz kompromisiem ar Rietumu reliģiozitāti. Raksts atbild uz jautājumu, kādēļ Krišnas Apziņas biedrība, kas sakņojas Čaitanjas vaišnavisma tradīcijā, ir piedzīvojusi ļoti nenozīmīgas izmaiņas mācībā un reliģiskajā praksē, un tomēr kļuva populāra eiropiešu vidū. Tas ir kļuvis iespējams pateicoties tam, ka vaišnavisma teoloģiskā sistēma ir tuva kristietībai un līdz ar to ir atpazīstama rietumniekiem; arī tādēļ, ka Čaitanjas vaišnavismā notiek mūsdienās pieprasītā abstrakto teoloģisko kategoriju antropoloģizācija.

From Christ to Krishna: A New Religious Paradigm?

Global Hinduism is not homogenous. Usually in the process of adjustment to the Western consumer Hinduism transforms to a large extent. Although the founder of ISKCON was not ready to make a compromise with Western worldview and religiosity, ISKCON became one of the most popular forms of Western Hinduism. The article answers the question why the doctrine and religious practice of ISKCON, rooted in Caitanya Vaishnavism, have experienced just a slight transformation and at the same time are so popular among Europeans. It happens because the theological system of Caitanya Vaishnavism is rather close to Christianity and hence is recognizable to the bearers of Judeo-Christian legacy. On the other hand ISKCON incarnates the necessary anthropological interpretation or transformation of abstract theological ideas.
